Hello. A new group called “Global” will begin for the first time this year.
It was started by two friends, one Korean and one American.
Coming this March, “Global” is recruiting new members that are kind and respectful to everyone within the group.
Details for this group are below. Please read all information carefully.
Qualification Requirements
- Busan National University students, foreign students, or foreign people living in Busan, including EPIK native teachers
- People who can speak any English. Speaking fluently is not expected or required
The purpose of this group is for cultural exchange through various group activities. In specific
circumstances, foreigners live in Busan long term to study, to participate in a working holiday, or to work here full time. What I felt from these people was that they lack chances to really experience Korean
culture. For people who work at an academy or a school, because of their limited environment, they are only able to meet their co-workers or maybe a few foreign friends. Most of these people are a similar
age to university students. They want to enjoy their life in Busan and experience the young people’s
culture here, but are given very few chances. This group will be like a bridge connecting foreign people with Korean university students. This could be a great chance to learn cultural differences, and also a
chance to make new friends.
Main Activities
- Short trips to traditional places in Korea
- Cooking dishes from foreigners’ native countries
- Learning to cook traditional Korean dishes
- Language exchange between people of various countries
- Going to see plays, movies, concerts, or other forms of entertainment
- Activities for this group are flexible and can be chosen depending on the interests of the group members
There are many reasons to join Global. There is not a large focus on learning English, but instead centers around learning English through talking and interacting with each other in fun activities. Members can see and learn
differences between people from different countries. This group is a great chance to leave a small pond and go
farther with new experiences. In this group you are able to go on trips or travel the area with new foreign friends.
If you are interested in cooking or learning about new types of food, this group allows you to teach and learn
various dishes from foreign friends, and how to make Korean or Chinese dishes from a kind teacher.
